Some of these add-ins plague, also the Windows Sidebar, and unlike any other vendor we’ve ever seen, the Toshiba (Toshiba PA3399U-2BRS battery) has chosen to lock the side, reducing the horizontal dimension applications. On-board Graphics: The Intel GMA 945 chipset that comes with this computer pretty much sucks. It’s ancient technology (I had a similar chip in my old HP (HP 530 battery) platform gaming, in 1999 I think …), and 3D rendering is a strong suits (although this may provide some pretty good games) . One way to grab a few more frames per second is to run GMAbooster, which will give you about 15-20% increase in overall performance. Also disable things like Anti-aliasing and running at the lowest settings will help. I’ve heard other people experimenting with various other software tweaks, and seem to get a performance boost. I’ve only had luck with GMAbooster so far though.

Most of the games you want to be able to run on a netbook is not likely to be congestion in your RAM, assuming you have a gigabyte or more. The younger generation of the Acer Aspire one battery will have up to 2 Gb Ram, or so they told me. At that point, it is definitely the CPU holding you back.
