The world’s thinnest 2.5-inch HDD

Posted by ecsem1 in Mar 04, 2011, under fashion life, news, technology

One detail that affects the thickness of the laptops is the hard drive. Seagate counteracts this by launching the world’s thinnest 2.5-inch hard drive that is 25 percent thinner than existing hard drives.

Seagate Momentus Thin is the name of the new thin disk. The unit is only 7 millimeters thick, which is 25 percent less than the usual hard disks of size 2.5 inches – that is, those typically found in most laptops.

PC manufacturers who have previously wanted to make smaller computers have been used either SSDs ( Solid State Drives, flash-based storage devices) or 1.8-inch hard drives. However, these are clearly more expensive than the 2.5-inch hard drives, so Seagate Momentus Thin may affect the price of future thin laptops.

There is no price tag does not seem to be public yet. The source for news, TechRadar, write nothing about the price in addition to Seagate’s new hard drive is cheaper per gigabyte compared to the above SSD and 1.8-incher.

Do you play much computer games, you need a real mouse. The simple mouse that comes with computer packages are not up to standard. The Swedish company Mionix launching Naos 5000, a new mouse for gaming. In addition to being ergonomically designed, it has lots of features that players certainly appreciate.

Mionix Naos 5000 is customizable in many ways and allows you to use all five fingers to control as much as possible in games. There are seven programmable buttons that you can set to work differently in your game. The mouse includes an internal memory of 128 kb that stores up to five different profiles. These profiles can then switch between even within a game.

As with many other gaming mice, you can determine how heavy Naos 5000 should be by yourself choose how many weights you want to have installed in it. This increases the precision based on your own taste. Additional precision you get with a laser sensor that has resolution of 5040 DPI. You can set three different DPI values, which you can then switch between the inside of the games.

Mionix Naos 5000 is therefore a computer mouse for the enthusiastic gamer. Tastes like it, so it costs. More than 720 crowns is the target price for. Options include in the form of Microsoft Sidewinder, which is similarly priced.

I have not yet tested the Naos 5000, but the Sidewinder has tried and should be tested before you buy one. I found that the Sidewinder was too edgy and great to be nice to use. But this is a matter of taste. The first test is a good idea.

Posted by ecsem1 in Feb 25, 2011, under custom and culture, fashion life, technology

Windows XP has become the standard choice among operating systems for minicomputers . With some manufacturers, it is possible to select versions of Linux, but unfortunately lost the election fairly soon from the Swedish market, because the interest was too low. I could also try HP’s first mini PC HP 2133 Mini-Note , which came with a Vista installation, which was hopelessly slow. HP soon switched to XP to update the computer.

With Windows 7, Microsoft seems to be able to show how an operating system to work. Windows 7 is fine to install on machines that do not have as high a performance as has been done on parts of the system in Vista was very demanding (may include management of Services ).

Limitations of computers

Initially it was thought that Microsoft would offer Windows 7 Starter Edition for installation on mini computers. Starter Edition was initially a limit of three applications to run simultaneously, but after fierce criticism from users and the media chose Microsoft to remove the hold. There is still a rather limited version of the new OS.

Now, Microsoft has chosen to completely remove the requirement to mini-computers must be running Windows 7 Starter Edition . Computer manufacturers can choose which version you want to pre-load their computers with. Moreover, some changes have been made regarding the limits of the hardware on minicomputers. The screens may now be only 10.2 inches – unlike the past, when the limit was 12.1 inches.

The internal memory is the same, up to 1 GB , while the hard disk may be 250 GB(altera tive 64GB SSD) which can be compared with the previous 160 GB and 32 GB.

They have removed the limit for the video card, in which computer manufacturers have only received a maximum of DirectX 9. With Windows 7 Aero , the new interface, needed more cream in your computer, so that manufacturers now must push the graphics chips they want. And finally, it is the processor which may not exceed 2 GHz, and may not draw more than 15W.

So you do not have 203 billion spam per day!

Posted by ecsem1 in Feb 17, 2011, under battery grip, fashion life, technology

203 billion spam. So many were sent there during the summer this year. Every day. The Cisco IronPort who regularly mellanrumtar provide statistics on how much junk mail ( spam ) is sent, and in two years, the increase in summer was 120 percent! Here are tips to help you avoid spam.

It is in a press release that Cisco IronPort go out with statistics that tell how sick much spam is sent today. They explain that the spammers can hardly take leave during the summer. So true … Spam continues to increase, after the significant decline in a few months ago when the ISP McColo, which has given bandwidth to spammers, was shut down.

Now make use of so-called spammers botnets ( botnets ) to send out their spam. It is more efficient in many ways, because it becomes harder to stop the delivery because the senders are sometimes hundreds of thousands of computers worldwide. Moreover, it’s faster. The problem of botnets is based, inter alia, in that people do not run good antivirus program .

Protect yourself from spam

The first line of defense against spam is to never give away your email address to suspicious places, and above all to never ever post your address on the web. Is it visible on the Web will spammers so-called robots to find it. They have software to surf around the net in search of email addresses.

Did you get caught in a spam registry, you can never get out of it. Many spammers do with a link to cancel your registration in their spam, but click on the confirm only that you actually read the email and then increase the value of the address, resulting in even more spam.

When you enter an email address for example, to download a software, you can use services that give you a temporary address. This address usually works for a few minutes. It is enough for you to receive a reply with a link to the download or login. 10 Minute Mail is a service that is completely free.

Nvidia 3D Vision provides video games a whole new dimension

Posted by ecsem1 in Feb 01, 2011, under fashion life, news, technology

At the CES show, the graphics card manufacturer Nvidia unveiled its new Nvidia GeForce 3D Vision.  This supplement consists of a pair of glasses, along with Nvidia graphics card and a monitor capable of 120 Hz, to give the player a 3D experience.

I have honestly not tried Nvidia 3D Vision – yet, anyway – and I am unfortunately not in place at CES, so I have to start from the press release has expired. According to the Nvidia 3D Vision automatically convert hundreds of games into a 3D experience. You wear the glasses, and the result I suppose is the same as when you look at the 3D TV with the classic red-green glasses.

The actual glasses, together with an infrared transmitter that is placed on top of the screen. This has a range of 20 meters.

During the CES show a large number of content providers, display manufacturers, OEMs and system builders support for NVIDIA’s 3D technology. To “said Christian Svensson on Capcom:

- NVIDIA 3D Vision has the potential to bring PC gaming to a whole new level by offering an unmatched depth of titles. When you play Dark Void with NVIDIA 3D Vision glasses it really feels like you are inside the game on a whole new way.

Nvidia 3D Vision has initially been launched already in the U.S. where they cost the equivalent of about 1500 crowns.  It is at this moment not clear when they come to Europe and what they will cost, but it is decided that they would come sooner or later.
